LePresso Baristo feature summary: 19-bar Italian pump, compact design, adjustable brew volume

Three numbers that decide whether it suits you

Width: 83 mm

Most capsule machines are 120 to 160 mm wide. The Baristo is 83 mm, narrower than a standing carton of milk. On a crowded counter that is the difference between a machine that lives out and one that lives in a cupboard.

LePresso Baristo compact design, 6 to 8 capsule container and 30-minute auto shut-off

Tank: 550 ml

Using Nespresso's standard cup sizes of 40 ml espresso and 110 ml lungo, one tank gives roughly 13 espressos or 5 lungos before a refill. A four-person household drinking in the morning will refill daily. Two people, twice a week.

Plug: UK 3-pin

The UAE uses Type G sockets, the same as the UK 3-pin plug, so the machine runs with no adapter. Units imported from the European market ship with two-pin plugs and need one, and a cheap adapter under a 1200W load is a known source of trouble.

What 19 bar means

The 19-bar pressure pump inside the LePresso Baristo

Espresso needs pressure to push hot water through compacted coffee and extract the aromatic oils. Low pressure produces watery coffee with no crema. 19 bar is the prevailing standard in home capsule machines, and it means the crema layer forms automatically with no skill required from the user, which is the entire point of the capsule system.

Two buttons: espresso and lungo

Espresso and lungo buttons on the LePresso Baristo with adjustable brew volume

The control panel has two buttons and nothing else. The first pulls a short, concentrated espresso; the second a longer, lighter lungo. Each volume is adjustable, so you set it once to your cup and it stays there.

It also shuts off automatically 30 minutes after last use, so it powers down on its own if you leave it running.

The limits — what this machine does not do

No steam wand and no milk frother. That means no cappuccino or latte from the machine itself. You can pull the espresso and add milk frothed separately. If milk drinks are essential, the right choice is the LePresso Brevissimo with its built-in grinder and frother.

  • No built-in grinder — capsules only, not ground coffee.
  • One capsule system, Nespresso. For multiple, see the LePresso Trezza.
  • Does not make Turkish coffee — that is an entirely different appliance, the Cezvara.
